Take Action

The following is a list of actions that you can take to help the victims of Canada’s cruel egg industry:

1. Write a letter to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the federal body responsible for oversight of farm animal transport. The CFIA is well aware of the cruel practices involved in chicken-catching and transport (see here) yet allows the cruelty to continue.

2. Use your social networking sites as animal advocacy tools. Post links to the getcrackingcruelty website and videos, and encourage your friends to do likewise.

3. Include the getcrackingcruelty website url in your e-mail signature.

4. Write letters to the editor and comment on online media articles related to the egg industry.

5. Volunteer at your local farm sanctuary. Photos from the Canadian sanctuaries we’ve visited and brought rescues to are here and a list of Canadian sanctuaries taking farm animals can be found here.

You can find many more ideas and tips to help animals in a free book by Rae Sikora and Jim Corcoran, which can be downloaded here.
